We invite you to participate in the Carlisle Green Festival sponsored by Engage Community Church. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2009 at LeTort Park in Carlisle.

Carlisle Green Festival will open avenues for greater awareness of the environmental resources available in Carlisle and the surrounding communities. This festival will encourage people from diverse backgrounds to connect in a fun and family friendly environment with live music, delicious food, and interactive games for kids. We will do this by hosting local presenters, green businesses, and educational and non-profit groups who have made a commitment to moving their global impact towards sustainability. Carlisle Green Festival attendees will have an opportunity to explore the latest in energy saving tips, LeTort stream restoration, fossil fuel reduction, post consumer waste reduction, organically and locally grown food, renewable energy, and more. As an exhibitor, we would like you to provide a display and answer questions concerning your organization's resources and services. We anticipate more than 500 attendees and will display participants on our web site. The event will also be advertised through local newspaper, radio and internet sites.

Special Guest Speaker John Hanger
Secretary, Department of Environmental Protection of Pennsylvania

John Hanger is the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. As Acting Secretary, Mr. Hanger manages an agency of more than 3,000 employees with a mission to protect Pennsylvania’s air, land and water from pollution and provide for the health and safety of its citizens through a cleaner environment, working as partners with individuals, organizations, governments and business to prevent pollution and restore natural resources.

Mr. Hanger is responsible for overseeing the development of a balanced ecological system through the protection of Pennsylvania’s environmental resources and assisting the regulated community and public in complying with environmental laws and regulations through a variety of technical assistance and outreach programs. He is also responsible for making all policy and resource allocation decisions, as well as representing the department before the legislature, the general public and those affected by any departmental actions.
